5 top tips for hunkering down
Yes! It’s that time of year for cosying up and making use of the space indoors…
1: Lose yourself in a good book. This autumn I’m going to finish Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina”, check out David Foster Wallace with a book of short pieces called “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again” and return to an old favourite of mine, F.Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby”.
2: Make fabulous soups and stews. They are great to come home to and will make the most of seasonal squashes. For a selection of veggie recipes go to https://earthtoplate.wordpress.com
3: Add more texture and indulgence to your spaces by adorning your sofa with a soft, chunky throw. They automatically update your room and provide a snug source of warmth.
4: Replace lighter drapes with heavier curtains in luxe fabrics. They’ll give your room some new-season opulence and keep the warmth in.
5: Awaken the senses. As well as your statement lighting, enhance the twinkle factor by lighting seasonally scented candles in spiced apple or cinnamon to create a sensual autumn vibe.
