Huge congratulations go to Stephanie, whose successful lampshade and cushion-making business is going from strength to strength. We're sure she'll put her prize - a £100 voucher - to good use when spending it on Dannells.com, Find out more about Stephanie and her business in our #memadeshade winner Q&A below.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and the creative things that you do?

Hello, I’m Stephanie, a wife, a mother and a small business owner based in County Durham. I run my business Sew Coordinated from home and enjoy making a whole range of lampshades and cushions.

Are you a newbie lampshade maker or have you made up a Needcraft Lampshade Making Kit before?

What first started out as a hobby, has now turned into my little business. I ordered my first Needcraft Lampshade Making Kit about 6 years ago when I was decorating my son's bedroom. Friends and family were so impressed that it wasn’t long before I had a list of people wanting me to make lampshades for them, and that was when I decided to set up my own business. I now sell on eBay and Etsy and have had over 1500 sales.

What do you love about the shade you entered for the #memadeshade competition?

I was so happy to win the #memadeshade competition with my navy geometric print lampshade. As soon as I made it, I loved it. It had a very contemporary feel to it, and the design was definitely eye-catching, I’m so pleased that other people loved it as much as me.

What’s do you like most about the Needcraft Lampshade Making kits?

The Needcraft Lampshade Making kits are absolutely brilliant, they contain everything you need to make your shades, with a step-by-step guide, so you can’t go wrong! I love that they come in a range of sizes too.

Any plans to make more lampshades?

I will definitely be making more lampshades soon. I love spending my time getting creative and expanding my business. There are so many beautiful fabrics out there to choose from so the possibilities are endless.

June's Most Liked Shades

There is a deep richness in both colour and pattern to this month's most liked shades. From paisley and koi crap to mermaids and stags, the mysterious and magical all seem to be covered, in tones of blue, gold and pink. They truly are a feast for the eyes!

Koi on Black and Gold, and Mushrooms, on the lampshade order list this morning. Three of these will be heading to Texas, USA, very soon. X

A candle clip shade in William Morris ‘The Brook’. 🦌 🌳 This one has a pale pink beaded fringe to perfectly compliment the blush pink of the fabric, but as I make these to order, it can be left in plain form too.
