It's been quite a month hasn't it? But we're pleased to say it hasn't stopped you from making super creative lampshades using our kits and entering them into our March #memadeshade Instagram competition.
Based on feedback from all of our lovely customers we've done two things differently for March; opened the competition up to our international customers and changed the prize to a whopping £100 voucher to spend on lampshade making materials and equipment from Dannells.com.
So drumroll please....or should that be drumshade please ;) ?
This month's winner is the very worthy @fatshadycompany with this gorgeous foxy shade made using Michael Miller fabric.
In true #memadeshade style, we found out more about March's winner and their lampshade making story.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and the crafting that you do?
My name is Louise Reeves and after retiring last year I wanted to get creative and learn a new skill. I have always loved working with colourful, vivid fabrics in my own home, upholstering furniture and upcycling old cushions and curtains. However, after attending a lampshade making class and creating my first few shades using fabric I had sourced via markets, endlessly scrolling through the internet and then displaying them in my own home, friends and family soon became interested. I thought why not sell them online and the Fat Shady Company was born.
Are you a newbie lampshade maker or have you made up a Needcraft Lampshade making kit before?
I am fairly new to Needcraft lampshade making kits as I only started late last year, although in this short space of time I've made over 30 and they are now taking over my home.
What do you love about the shade you entered for the #memadeshade competition?
The shade we entered into the #memadeshade is a Michael Miller fabric and was one of our original shades we released online and since then has been our bestseller, so much so we are struggling to keep the fabric in stock.
What do you like most about the Needcraft lampshade making kits?
What I love about the Needcraft lampshade making kits is that they're easy to use, yet come in a wide range of shapes, sizes and lining options.
Any plans to make more lampshades?
The Fat Shady Company is just getting started. We will be making plenty more shades, in new shapes and bolder designs.
March's most liked shades
Month on month we're getting more handmade lampshade entries into the competition and you're wowing us with your shade making skills. Here are the most liked shades that entered #memadeshade in March.
And for those of you with time on your hands ;) why not enter #memadeshade in April? You can enter for anywhere in the world and the prize is a generous £100 voucher to spend on lampshade making goodies at Dannells.com
