Mother’s Day Gift Idea - Make a Pamper Hamper with a Sewing Bin Kit

Showing your mum or someone you hold dear how much you love them is what Mother’s Day is all about and to celebrate we’ve turned our popular Sewing Bin Kit, into the ultimate personalised gift – a pamper hamper!

By curating a selection of nice smellies, choosing a book they’ll enjoy and adding in a box of luxury chocolates, all your Mum needs to do is take some ‘me time’ to enjoy them. By carefully selecting a fabric that you know they’ll love for the outer of their Sewing Bin Kit, it will make beautiful storage to use way beyond the day itself.

Tips for making up your Sewing Bin Kit

  • When picking your fabric, you’ll need to use a fabric that is 150 cm wide or 60” due to the length of the Sewing Bin Kit panel, rather than a craft fabric which is typically 120cm / 44” wide.

  • With a huge range of patterns and colours that you can personalise your pamper hamper with, considering the scale of the print on the fabric is also an important factor. A small or medium print will print will work well and fit into the 23 cm depth of the sewing bin.

  • Don’t forget to mark in your notches on the reverse of the PVC panel (the white side) which can be found on the top and bottom edge, around 30cm away from one of the short edges. These will be used to align the centre bar on each of the frames when sticking them to the PVC.

Once you've made your Sewing Bin Kit, all you need to do is think about what your Mum would love to receive then you can pack your pamper hamper full of treats such as shower gel, a face mask, body lotion, hand cream, a new towel or hair wrap, nail varnish or a pack of nail files. We've even included a little bottle of celebratory fizz!

Crafty storage

We’re not one for telling you what your lovely Mum or other might like, but if they are a crafter then filling your Sewing Bin Kit with crafting goodies will work just as well!

Check out our ‘Back to School' blog post, in which we picked a witty, crafty themed fabric from the Stitch Collection from Dashwood featuring bobbins of thread and buttons, creating fun and crafty storage. It's perfect for keeping projects and patterns all in one place and the post includes a mini-tutorial to make the neat divider pictured below using our Lampshade Making PVC LINK.
