Promote your Lampshade Making Workshop with Dannells

With indoor get togethers now possible we're so pleased that Lampshade Making Workshops can start to take place and you can share your passion for lampshade making once again.

Whether you’re a kit maker, professional lampshade maker or even a wholesaler of our Needcraft lampshade kit range, behind the scenes we’ve been developing useful ways to support you, particularly if you run or are planning to run workshops in the very near future.

Teaching others how to make lampshades is a super satisfying way to pass on your knowledge and skills, as well as spending time in the company of other crafters - something we've definitely all been missing!

To sit alongside your usual channels of promotion we’ve added a Lampshade Making Workshop Event calendar to the blog to be a one-stop-shop to help our customers find a lampshade making workshop near them.

To also help drive customers to you, we’ll be promoting workshop from the Events calendar on the Dannells social channels with the hope of making your businesses boom and your lampshade making workshops busier than ever!

How to add a workshop to the Events calendar

It’s a super simple process that takes just a few minutes to complete via a Google form. You’ll just need to make sure that you have the following to hand:

· Name of the workshop

· Details about the workshop (what size shade you’re making, materials needed, skill learnt etc)

· Date – start and end

· Start time

· Location (our calendar cleverly links through to Google maps)

· A promotional image

How to run a Lampshade making workshop

If you’re already an expert lampshade maker and are retailing your products, teaching workshops is a brilliant way to diversify your business and bring in some essential revenue.

If you want to start running workshops in person check our post How to promote your lampshade making workshop, which as well been packed with tips on promotion, it contains the essential elements you’ll need to think about for your first Lampshade Making Workshop.

With virtual events popping up left, right and centre throughout the last year, running a Lampshade making workshop online is an achievable possibility! We ran our own virtual workshops through 2020 and documented the process in our How to run your own virtual workshop blog post. You can also check out each of our virtual workshops on YouTube to give you a first-hand idea of what we did.

And you don’t have to reinvent the wheel – if you’re looking for hints and tips on what to do and say when you’re running a workshop check out our range of instructional videos delivered by Sam, our Dannells Demonstrator. You can even download Sam’s teaching notes here.

Get kitted out

If you’re a lampshade maker or Lampshade Making Kit retailer you don’t have to use your own stock to run a workshop. We have a range of Workshop Making packs to make drum lampshades, in 20cm, 30 cm and 40 cm diameters which are available in 30 or 50 lampshades per pack. The materials come handily packed into one box, meaning they're easy to separate from your regular lampshade making stock.

Designed for the classroom, workshop or any group making activity these packs contain everything students need to make professional handmade lampshades using their design of choice. Every pack contains our usual comprehensive instruction sheets (A4) with colour photographs to help each student.

Thinking of extending your workshop offering? Take a look at our workshop packs for our clock, bin, textile wall art kit and lanterns kits too. Using some of the same skills as lampshade making these kits are quicker to make and could be the perfect add on to a lampshade making workshop or why not offer a few kits to create a full day course?
